Job Summary:
The Machine Set-Up and Operator ensures machinery is set up, works properly, and conforms with (and can produce materials that conform with) company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Studies blueprints, work orders, and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed.
- Places and secures workpieces in machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface using clamps and wrenches.
- Observes machine using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers are in proper working order.
- Responsible to produce first piece samples, completing all necessary paperwork, and performs quality tests to comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
- Ability to troubleshoot/problem solve on own or when needed confers with quality and engineering to resolve problems of specifications, materials, tooling, procedures or processes affecting quality
- Visually inspects parts to assure conformance with standards and customer requirements
- Loads and unloads raw material from CNC machine.
- Observes all safety requirements including required Lockout/Tag out, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Works closely with maintenance to ensure tooling and equipment are in good operating condition
- Ability to train machine operators to run machines after being set up and first article inspection has occurred.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic computer/technical skills
- Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of CNC machine.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written in Englich to understand work instructions, diagrams and blueprints.
- Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
- Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations such as fixtures, cutting speeds, or feed rates.
- Capable of lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, stretch, squat, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms 8 hours or more and climb to access all parts of the machine.
- Must be able to work in noisy environments.
- Willing and able to work overtime and as required
- Willing to work any shift as necessary
- Strong work ethic / Positive attitude / Self-motivated
- Keep work areas neat, clean, and organized
- Must be 18 years or older.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational school diploma highly preferred.
- CNC Certification with at least one year of experience as a set up - machine operator required.
Compensation
* This is a Union Position and pays $20.00/HR Eligible for Overtime pay after working 8 hours a day Monday-Friday and time and a half for all hours worked on Saturdays
