Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This role will support the Business Units, Operations, and Engineering Teams with the development and production of prototypes, as well as provide technical and manufacturing consultation as needed. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and implement projects and action plans through the development of dependable and competitive suppliers
  • Participate in ball-parking, budgetary reviews, and brainstorming. Participate in value-engineering efforts. Provide labor and material estimates
  • Support the Estimating Department in the preparation of estimates, as required
  • Participate in the supplier selection for prototypes, taking into consideration production lead times, projected production quantities, and cost
  • Monitor actual labor vs. Estimate
  • Recommend alternate processes for manufacturing or materials used to improve costs, quality, lead time, and overall value
  • Supply practical manufacturing design solutions for repeatability and cost savings
  • Provide technical support to Estimating, Purchasing, and other Business Units/Programs
  • Assist in development plan for custom projects
  • Research new technologies and processes and share findings with the team
  • Develop improved processes to include line efficiencies
  • Visit suppliers during the production process to review work in progress, troubleshoot, and solve manufacturing issues on the spot
  • Work in conjunction with Engineers and Designers in the procurement of new materials and in the evaluation of new manufacturing processes to ensure the most cost-effective, state-of-the-art product design
  • Consult with Engineers to produce an Engineering packet that takes into consideration budgetary constraints, manufacturability, and repeatability.  Review the packet with the team for tolerances, material specifications, and finishes before handing off to the Production Team
  • Work with Development Product Managers, Engineers, and the Model Shop to assist in developing the timelines and budgets throughout the product development process
  • Assist QA/Engineering/Project Management in 1st Article Inspection
  • When requested, visit potential suppliers to assist in their evaluation
  • Review/propose new packaging solutions to provide the most cost-efficient pack outs (both material and labor)
  • Assist RTC international locations when requested in implementing custom projects
  • Participate in on-site installations of prototypes
  • Must be able to travel as needed
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or other Manufacturing-related area or equivalent experience

Experience

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

     
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or other Manufacturing-related area or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, project management field, Materials Management, Purchasing, or Estimating
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • A working knowledge of a wide variety of materials and processes
  • Self-starter, able to manage multiple responsibilities at the same time
  • Detail-oriented
  • Resourceful
  • Team player
  • Good communicator
  • Knowledge of Solid Works is a plus

 

Compensation:

The base salary range for this position is budgeted for $70,143-$108,043, with eligibility for an annual bonus. The actual base salary depends on various factors and could be above or below the range depending on the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific skills, level of education, business needs, and market demand. The full salary range for this role reflects this position's competitive labor market value and provides an opportunity to progress as associates grow and develop within the role.  Bonuses are paid based on RTC’s financial results.  Any payouts awarded in the first year of employment are pro-rated based on the start date.  Program rules are subject to change at management’s discretion.
